Privacy Policy

Official Privacy Policy for the NVDA Screen Reader & Text to Speech (TTS) Chrome Extension.

Last Updated: June 2026

1. Privacy Principles

We believe that accessibility tools should never compromise your privacy. The **NVDA Screen Reader & Text to Speech (TTS)** browser extension is designed with a **privacy-first, client-side execution model**. We do not collect, monitor, store, or sell your personal data, browser history, settings configurations, or AI queries.

2. Information Collection and Usage

Personal Identifiable Information (PII)

The extension **does not collect** any personal identifiable information, such as your name, email, IP address, device identifier, or location data. There is no user account registration, analytics tracking, or remote cookie usage.

Browsing Content & History

We **do not record** your browsing history or track the pages you visit. Page contents are analyzed locally inside your browser context solely when you trigger accessibility commands (e.g. read element, execute OCR, or query AI).

3. AI Processing (Google Gemini API)

To power features like smart page Q&A, image OCR text extraction, and voice navigation parsing, the extension sends user-initiated prompt requests and context metadata directly to the **Google Gemini API**.

  • Direct Communication: All API requests are transmitted securely via HTTPS directly from your browser to Google's official Gemini API endpoints.
  • Your Own Key: The extension utilizes your personal Google Gemini API key. No intermediate developer-managed proxy servers or logging mechanisms are utilized.
  • No Logging: Your page context and questions are never collected or archived by us. Please consult Google's AI privacy policies for details on how they process API inputs.

4. Storage Policy (Chrome Sync Storage)

The extension uses Chrome’s secure local synchronization storage API (chrome.storage.sync) to retain preferences and configurations. The stored items include:

  • Your custom Gemini API Key (encrypted locally).
  • TTS speech rate, pitch, and volume variables.
  • Selected voice model names.

This data syncs across your signed-in Chrome browsers and can be completely wiped at any time by clearing the extension settings or uninstalling the extension.

5. Third-Party Services

This extension interacts with the following external services:
